We're weeding the island and adding more dirt, manure and logs from rotting fallen trees to our raised beds down there in preparation for full use next season. There are 8 or so raised beds of various sizes and 3 natural mounded planting areas.
We're collecting and drying apples daily.
The solar heater dehydrator project is moving forward. The frame has been cut and all 255 aluminum beverage cans have been cleaned, drilled, opened. Next steps are to attach the cans in columns, nail the frame together, caulk it, paint it black and attach the glass. This is a multipurpose item that will be used to help heat our house/bug out vehicle in the cold months and fuel an industrial size food dehydrator for long term storage of our harvests.
We've also begun developing our plans to build a portable lean to greenhouse out of pvc. This would be something that can be disassembled and loaded onto the bug out vehicle to take with us wherever &/or attached to the south side of our house/bug out vehicle for additional passive solar gain through winter.
